Text Lines, Export Options, and 1.0.5
Magic Circle Generator » Devlog
Hi everybody!
I've got another update for you! Now you can create seals like Solomon!
Not only that but I've been focused on fixing a bunch of bugs and adding some of the most requested features
- I've added more mouse controls. Try pressing these buttons to
- Shift: Allows you to drag the subcircle around and scroll to change the radius
- Shift + Alt: Allows you to scroll the inner circle radius to adjust the size of text and symbols.
- Ctrl: Allows you to drag individual points and scroll to increase the point's radius
- Ctrl + Alt: Allows you to scroll to change the number of points and drag to rotate the subcircle
- You can now use text lines
- Enable the "Draw Text Lines" to have text connect your points.
- "Text Lines Overlap" controls if lines should appear over one another to create a kind of braided effect
- "Wrap text ring in circle" has been renamed to "Wrap text in lines" because it now controls the text lines as well as text rings
- Added a field to edit the individual points of symmetry
- You can now change their X and Y positions in the editor, or select a row and press and hold the Ctrl button to drag it around
- Improved the add/remove subcircle buttons, they now appear next to the subcircle in the hierarchy and are a lot less buggy
- Added the option to export the animations as a PNG sequence. This should allow you to have a lot more colors in your animations.
- Added the option to export each subcircle as individual PNG files
- The color field has been moved from generation settings to post-processing
- Added a prompt to load old data instead of doing it automatically
I've also fixed a good number of bugs that have been brought to my attention (Thanks again for letting me know when you find one!)
- Fixed most of the issues with adding subcircles
- Fixed issues with working with higher-resolution canvases
- Fixed inscribed points affecting other subcircle settings
- Fixed an issue with loading corrupted data

I really like the Magic Circle Generator, but after buying it and playing with it for a while what I'd really like to do is use other symbol libraries or fonts with it. Is there a way to create a list of fonts to use as symbols or text with the MCGen?
Plenty of fonts provide custom character sets: https://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=706 has some cool ones. They effectively replace the normal letter characters with custom symbols. You'll need to download and install the font on your system to make it show up in the list. You'll sometimes have to restart your computer after installing the font in order to get it to load properly. You should then be able to select it under Text Settings > Font. Let me know if that helps!
